Grandma Fix!!!!!!

November 23rd, 2009

I was in Utah from Nov. 10-15.  It is GREAT being able to spend time with the little kiddies.  There was one problem – I missed seeing one of my little Grandson’s while in Utah, but he is coming to Grandma and Grandpa’s in December so I will get to see him then!

Yankees Seats

November 5th, 2009

Last night, Tom brought out his Yankees seats to watch Game Six of the 2009 World Series.  When we first got married, he said that his Yankees seats were only to be used when the Yankees were playing in the World Series.   (This was revised to any World Series games because of the lack of use during the past several years).

Yankee Seats
Last night, the seats came out in their full glory – being used exactly how Tom’s original intent was – watching the Yankees in the World Series.
Eating Peanuts
This fan was very careful to hit the garbage can with his peanut shells since he is the one that usually cleans up the floor on garbage night (which happens to be Wednesdays).
Live Shot [1]
Great field level view in original Yankees Stadium seats.  What more could a die-hard Yankees fan want?

For the Yankees to WIN, of course!  It was a great night –  #27 it is!!!!!!!

Disappearing Rainbow

November 3rd, 2009

I will be teaching at Northern Star Quilters Super Saturday in February.  I am considering offering my Disappearing Rainbow quilt as the project for the day.  I have been testing and working on putting the pattern together.  The project uses 24 Rainbow FQs; one dark and one light in the 12 colors on the color wheel.
FQHere are the FQs that I am using for this round of testing.  I love this way of presenting FQs.  I shared this stack of FQS at the Pelham Quilters meeting last night.   Most of the evening I was fiddling, arranging and rearranging the folds on these FQs.   (Actually, I was just using that as an excuse to just feel and pet the fabric.)
Disappearing Rainbow
Here are the blocks that I am using for the quilt.
When I made the last rainbow quilt Autumn, my five year old granddaughter, requested that she get that quilt when I die.  Well, today when I told her that I was making another rainbow quilt she asked if someone else had requested a rainbow quilt when I die and is that why I was making another one.  Too bad all these layout options are not actually quilts – I could make alot of people happy when I die.

Now to decide how to lay the blocks out.  Which one do you like?

Layout Option 1

Layout Option 1

Layout Option 2

Layout Option 2

Layout Option 3

Layout Option 3

I have another couple of layout ideas – but they will require making more blocks and changing the placement of the lights and darks on the nine-patch blocks.  I will have to cut more fabric because I DO NOT want to use my Rainbow FQ Tower.

Happy Quilting!!!!!

This is a test!!!!!

Six Generations of Quilters

This is a test to see what happens to pictures when I upload to this blog and can I figure out how to get them to be “Clickable”.

But can you name the quilters in the picture?

Grandma to the Rescue

IMG_2374
At the end of last week Emily and Ben’s family had to make an unplanned trip to Iowa for a very sad event in their family.  Their unplanned trip put Emily’s plans for working on the girls Halloween costumes on hold.  Prairie wants to be Diego this year so Emily looked on Esty and found a patch that she could order.  I told her not to worry about it, I would take care of ordering it.  I got involved in all my activites in Houston (and did not really have a good internet connection) and just did not get the patch order.  Yesterday I knew that I had to make it myself.  (I know it is not an exact circle – but I am hoping that my 3 year old granddaughter will not notice – I think that I will stick with quilting.)

IMG_2373
I had the patch completed and called Emily to see if she wanted me to do anything else.  She said I could make a Diego vest – so I do.  I completed it about 15 minutes prior to my classes starting.  Man am I glad that the post office is just 1/2 block from my house.  Ran to the Post Office and was back in time for my class to start.

The last thing that Emily has to deal with on this costume is the hair issue.  Prairie is insistent that she has “Boy” hair, in fact, she wants to cut her hair.  Stay tuned for the end of this story.

Have a GREAT day!!!!

Learning Curves

October 16th, 2009

A quick note from Houston.

Tom and I have been in Houston since last Saturday. Market and Festival have been wonderful, but totally overwhelming. Also, my new website went live the day before we left New York which entailed switching it over to Word Press (and the fact that we have to sit in the lobby to get internet access) has made blogging an all new experience too. If that wasn’t enough new stuff in my life at once, we also purchased me a Blackberry a couple of days before our trip. I am feeling totally overwhelmed with all this new stuff.

I have seen some wonderful quilts and I am so excited to get back to my studio and creating!!!! We have also done a lot of the tourist things while here.

It is all GREAT and I will write more next week (and share some pictures).

Mary Anne

Can you believe it?????

October 9th, 2009

I have actually done something creative in the kitchen.

The Pelham Quilters monthly meeting was Monday evening. A couple of hours prior to the meeting I remembered that I was suppose to bring refreshments. Since I had classes to teach, I was really glad that I had purchased a couple of brownie mixes last trip to the grocery store. I had also purchased this magazine with all these fun Halloween food ideas. I am not sure why I buy this type of magazines, except I like to LOOK at the pictures. Well, I pulled out my magazine and found this fun idea.I think this was alot more exciting than just plain brownies.

The magazine said to make the spiders out of gum drops. Needles to say, I don’t keep gum drops around just waiting for the perfect project. So, the pom pom and chenille stems came to the rescure.
As for Houston – I am frantically trying to get pack and everything done.
The QUEEN of PROJECTS is in top frorm today.

Hexapin HEXAMANIA!!!!!!!

October 1st, 2009
I have folded 120 hexagons this past week
and worked on putting some of the hexapins together.
It’s like a one person factory line. I go from station to station.
