3 Lables sewed on

Wednesday, October 22nd, 2008
Today I sewed on three labels. Feels great to be finishing up these projects. The first label sewed on was on the Morning Quilt.
(If you are wondering why the leaves and vines are blue – because the yellow is out on my printer and I didn’t want to go to Staples before I printed the label.)

Here is the front of the quilt – sorry for the angel – my quilt holder is at work.
Here is the label for Splash of Silver. Now it is comletely done.

The third label for a quilt that Emily finished. It is going to be mailed here on the East coast so we decided it was silly for her to take it back to Utah just to have to mail it back to the East.

Anyone for a new project?

Saturday after we dropped Jason, Christy and Ty at the airport I had the feeling like I wanted to go home and just start a new project. But………….that is not sticking to my goal of working on and finishing some of my UFOs. Emily called and we talked for awhile and I told her my feeling of wanting to just go and start a new project. She help convince me that was not a good idea. I decided to work on the binding for my Morning Quilt. I sewed it on the front and now just need to hand sew it to the back. I hate having the hand sewing on the rod pocket at the last, so I did it first. Last night I worked on one side while we were driving down to Manhattan for the Annual Manhattan Temple Ordiance Workers Devotional.

On Saturday evening after I sewed the binding on the front of the quilt I decided to pin base my Back to School quilt. I am feeling really intimated about quilting this quilt. I am not sure why, but I am. I visited Patsy Thompson Designs trying to get some inspiration. She has a great website with alot of fun samples for free motion quilting. I have printed out all the FREE downloads and niow have more wonderful resources to add to my free mtoion ideas binder.I have started quilting the outlines around most of the piece, now for the free motion stuff. I hope that I can do justice to this quilt.
Sunday I completed the embroidery work on the final pieced block for the Generations Unite quilt.

What I have been up to the past few days

Over the week-end I worked on embroidering the bees to the center of the Gift Bag Swap quilt. It just needs to be pin basted and it will be ready to quilt. I am planning on trying the wool bat that I purchased at the Northern Star Quilt show. I am excited to work with the wool batting and see how I like it.

Close-ups of the bees!

Tom is at Boys Scout camp this week. So, I have lots of time to SEW!
Monday night I decided to finish quitling the borders on the E-bay Mania quilt.
Last night I worked on putting the binding on. After I had the binding sewn (but not turned to the wrong side and stitch down by hand) I told it was kind of rippley, but I decided that it should be okay, I pressed it and started to sewen the binding down by hand. I completed three sides.

This morning I got up and looked at the quilt with the rippley border and decided that it was not acceptable and I was not going to be able to press it into submission. So, after camp I spent about 1 hours unpicking everything that I did last night.

Waiting for GEORGE to arrive.

My George (quilting machine from APQS) is schedule to be delivered today.

I am really exicted. In anticipation of this event, I pin basted my Morning quilt so it wold be ready to quilt tonight.

Tick-tock! Tick-tock! Just waiting for the delivery person(s) to ring my doorbell!

Projects while in Idaho/Utah

Thursday, March 6th, 2008

After finding out that my father had passed away and Tom and I would be leaving for Idaho the next day, I decided that I might want to work on this project while in Idaho. So I pieced a couple of the gloried nine-patch blocks (this time my machine). Needless to say, I didn’t work on it, but it did make me feel better to work on them the day my father died.
Here is a picture to give you an idea of how the quilt top will look like combined with the blocks that my mom make prior to her death.

While in Idaho we (me, Emily and Jennie) HAD to go to Porters. They have some wonderful fabrics and alway have some fun samples. When I went we all just kind of wondered around trying to think of a good reason to purchase fabric. I found these fabrics in a Jellyroll from Moda but just couldn’t come up a reason to make a quilt, so I kept looking. But a few days later I went back and purchase the Jellyroll just because it made me happy.

This was my wise purchase that day at Porters. This quilt will be saved for a wedding gift someday.
