Back in 2003 Emily made this quilt to match her dishes that she got when she got married. The scraps from the Easy Pieces blocks were left at my house. A couple of years ago she used the fabric she had left and made another quilt like it to go on her other couch. One day we were talking about these fun scraps but decided that even though they were so pretty they really were not big enough to do anything with. We made a pack to throw then away. But………..I just could not do.
At Christmas when I recoved Emily’s glider rocker she was wishing that we still had the scraps so we could do make a small quilt to coordinate with the other two quilts that she has in her living room. Well, I didn’t think that I ever threw away the scraps and one day early this month I went into the attic in search of the scraps and I found them and this is what is on its way to Emily’s. Enjoy!!!!!
This is an example of the scraps that were left.
See why the blocks have so many seams in them?
Here are the scraps sitting on the sewing machine while I am trying to decide the best way to sew them together.
After I got the blocks made I decided that I probably had enough blocks for the small quilt and a pillow. That should be fun.
After quilting the small quilt it was mis-shapped, so it had to be blocked. If it hadn’t been for this small detail, I probalby would have had it in the mail on time.
You are amazing and have the patience of a saint… or I guess a mother…. all those small pieces. Can you spell BIRDS NEST???
But, I must say it is definitely a gem!
wow you never cease to amaze me.
Mom where’s the label?
Mom I love it!!! I am so excited!
